Artist Statement
When creating my series, the saying "don't judge a person until you've walked a mile in their shoes" kept running through my mind. High school is a realm of judging in which we all are caught. Through rough or easy times, we must keep in mind that we don't always know what is going on in someone else's life. However, that is much easier said than done. Each painting of mine contains a pair of shoes that represents a member of my family because even the people I am closest to have hardships I am unaware of. The shoes are a symbol of realizing and understanding before you make assumptions.
